this is number 24. a 7-string rhoades v i did a while back. it showed at NAMM along with a couple other pieces. it's carved from basswood.

no, i usually just look at the piece and sort of go for it. let it happen. this sounds hokey, but the wood kind of tells you what it wants.

I can see the wood having a big say in how your pieces turn out. most defantly! and i'm sure that the time frame is about the same way too?

to a degree yes, but lately, i've been working the pieces more and more. getting more compulsive about them. they never really seem finished to me, and i never think they look "perfect" i just work them until i think i'll ruin them if i do any more. i'm trying to attain the piece that i'm happy with, maybe someday it will happen.

lol well that just shows how good of an artist you really are. you know when to say enough. i know that was a real issue for me a while back. i kept going on my pictures and then when i was completely done i ended up regreting it in the end because it was too confusing to the person looking at it other then myself.
